Right at the start, this project required a significant amount of work to change the occupancy classification of the dwelling. An ADU was filed, a law in California that looks up after the ever-expanding housing needs; it allows the homeowner to create accessory dwelling units on their properties, which for our client was a choice of adding a poolside guest home.

The project transformed an old garage and poorly landscaped backyard into an outdoor oasis of a guest home. The existing garage became an artist’s studio, and the addition housed a large indoor/outdoor entertainment kitchen and living room. The dressing room and full bathroom finished the project’s indoor layout composition.

Accentuating luxury, some particular moments in design choices were the addition of beautifully crafted marble paving, landscape, and outdoor lighting. Ancient olive trees were brought to the site and planted. The final design and execution of the outdoors incorporated a grill, refrigerator, bar-height seating, and a water feature, creating a lounge and space to entertain guests in the warm Los Angeles weather.
